Artist StatementI work with subtlety, bringing attention to what lies beneath. Generating art is my opportunity to be still, be quiet, be open, and focus energy on the beautiful small things; The mystery of a line, an empty square, the importance of a dot on a page and examining the possible meanings of something so simple. I like to observe the evolution of meaning; one cut, smudge, or bleed of color is the addition of a new voice to the conversation taking place within the picture and a rearrangement of the plan. I paint on, cut out, and rearrange to create order. I am on a trail, searching for perfect balance within a mundane structure. I am searching for messages that are hidden in my arrangements, where the most importance is in what has been censored. My work is an effort to open myself and focus on the moment; something so simple as a piece of paper and asking what can be learned from it.
